400 Winneshiek County students help to plant trees

400 first grade and special education students throughout Winneshiek County have participated in an educational tree planting program this month.  John Cline Elementary School and St. Benedict's School in Decorah, South Winneshiek Elementary School and DeSales in Ossian, North Winneshiek School and CFS in Spillville all participated in the trees for kids program.

Scott Sindelar from the Fort Atkinson Nursery donated seedling Black Hill Spruce trees.  Sindelar, ISU Extension Assistant Beth Holthaus and Winneshiek County Master Gardeners members Jim Lage, Janet Thompson, Ed Brooks and Bob Davis helped teach students how to plant and care for their trees.
