Three Decorah students have been recognized for their writing achievements by the Northeast Iowa Reading Council.
Fourth grader Lillian Grouws and seventh graders Augusta Casterton and Robert Berger were recognized for their writings. Grouws won the fourth grade poetry competition with her poem, "The Hamster and the Snake." Casterton won the seventh grade poetry category with "Classroom," and Berger won the seventh grade writing division with "Freedom," a story inspired by his cat, Tommy.
