April was cooler than March in Decorah

For the first time in the 118 years for which temperature data has been recorded for Decorah, the average temperature for April was cooler than the average March temperature.

Decorah weather obse4rver Richard Bernatz says April's average temperature was 50.4 degrees.  Even though that placed it as the 21st warmest April in the last 118 years, it still was 0.6 degrees cooler than March's average temperature of 51.0 degrees.

Bernatz says April of 2012 had 5.02 inches of rainfall, which is 1.97 inches above the average of 3.05 inches.  April 15th was the wettest day, when 1.67 inches of rain was recorded.
