Luther College professor Philip Freeman has had his book on Alexander the Great selected as one of the top books of 2011 by the Society of Midland Authors.
Each year since its inception in 1915, the Society of Midland Authors has presented awards for excellence to authors and poets who live in, were born in or have strong ties to the twelve-state Midwestern Heartland. Currently the Society presents cash awards to winners in the categories of adult fiction and nonfiction, biography, poetry and children's fiction and nonfiction published in the previous year.
Freeman's book, "Alexander the Great," published by Simon & Schuster, was selected as a finalist in the Biography category.
