A prescription drug collection held Saturday is being called a success by members of the Northeast Iowa Drug Task Force.
545 pounds of prescription medications were collected on Saturday. The collection was held as part of a drive by the NE Iowa Drug Task Force to crack down on prescription drug abuse, which task force members say is one of the fastest growing threats to youth today.
In the nine months since starting its campaign against prescription drug abuse, the Northeast Iowa Task Force has collected 346 doses of illegally used prescription drugs.
