decorahnews.com reader Sue Sander has a different suggestion for a trail head in Decorah

Just throwing out another thought on a site for the Trail-Head. Granted in a perfect world we could just snap our fingers and everything would fall in place and money would be no object. Let's face it, not in this world. One option to consider for the trail-head would be the use of the old RC-10 building.  It is very visible from a major intersection into Decorah and the multimillion dollar bridge is right there as a landmark to let people know where the trail head is. The building could be used in many ways, for example: locker rentals, access to shower facilities after an afternoon of biking, a small cafe, refurbish the miniature golf course for those waiting for biker's to return, onsite daycare for children too small to ride. This is a great building that the longer it sits unused will unfortunately succumb to demolition. Yes, having access to downtown would be a great feature but when we have a building sitting unused and right on the trail why not considering using it. There comes a time we need to use common sense and let people know what we have in a visible way instead of tucking it away in a compact area of downtown. If the area is promoted well, those coming to bike will venture downtown when they are finished and stroll the streets, shop and eat out. Just my thoughts and ways of making use of buildings that already exist and in my opinion make sense.
