Decorah bald eagle D1 returns to Decorah

Decorah 2011 bald eagle "D1" has returned to the area.

The one year old bald eagle has wandered a bit, but has largely been in Northeast Iowa since the first of the year.  D1 was outfitted with a satellite transmitter last fall in order to allow researchers to track her movements.

Raptor Resource Project Director Bob Anderson says he was able to track down D1 this week along the Upper Iowa River very near the Iverson bridge in Allamakee county. 

Anderson says the satellite data confirmed that D1 is still in this general location.  Adds Anderson, "This eagle does indeed wander."
