In the past, the only times anything has been hung over Water Street in downtown Decorah has been the flags hung during Nordic Fest. That might be changing.
The Decorah Street Committee is recommending to the full city council that Winneshiek County's fire departments be allowed to hang two banners over Water Street to promote a May 25th bull riding fundraiser planned for fire departments in the county.
The banners will be hung at Winnebago Street and at State Street. They will be tied at both the top and bottom and will have vents to allow air to pass through.
The Decorah City Council will vote on the request May 7th.
