Crime statistics held steady in 2011 in the City of Decorah

The Decorah Police Department says it made 286 arrests during 2011.  The figure is included in the police department's annual report.

There were four arrests for Aggravated Assault, five arrests for Simple Assault and two arrests for Domestic Assault.  The majority of arrests involved drugs or alcohol, with 54 arrests involving drugs; 51 arrests involving Driving Under the Influence; 45 arrests involving liquor law violations and 43 arrests for drunkenness.

Decorah Police received a total of 4,202 calls for service during 2011--a 15 percent increase from 2010.  Police responded to 340 traffic accidents, including 48 accidents between cars and deer.
