Ask Mr. Answer Person: "Why doesn't Decorah have a community center?"

(Shannon e-mails Mr. Answer Person: "Cresco has one.  Waukon has one.  Even tiny little Mabel, MN has a beautiful new 9,000 square foot facility located near the Steam Engine fairgrounds.  Wouldn't it be great for our (Decorah) community youth and adults to have a community and recreation/wellness center to use all year round?  Especially one with an indoor pool.  What about the old RC10 location?  Can anything be salvaged and added on to make a nice facility?  What about the old Wapsie Produce lot?  I am sure there are many other locations that would be suitable as well.  What is the reason for not moving forward with a plan to raise money, apply for grants, etc.?)

Mr. Answer Person replies: "Shannon, I have good news and bad news for you.

The good news is that the community center concept is being discussed again.  In fact, the City of Decorah's Property Committee will meet at 6:00 p.m. Monday, May 7th, to discuss the concept and possible locations.

The bad news?  You may have just volunteered to serve on a committee!
