North Winneshiek approves 2012-2013 budget

The North Winneshiek School Board has approved a 2012-2013 budget for the school district.

The property tax levy rate for FY13 will be $14.77 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, which is the same figure as it has been in the previous two years.  It's also slightly below the statewide average for school levies. 

The total levy will generate $1,662,445 in property taxes for the school district.   Due to declining enrollment, the district's regular program revenue dropped by $78,193 from this fiscal year.  North Winneshiek has reduced staffing in order to deal with the revenue short fall.
 
The school district's spending authority remains strong, which is a different financial indicator for the district, based on the authority to spend and not actual cash in the bank.  The district's general fund spending authority is $659,925.
