Sheriff's deputies break up large underage drinking party

Winneshiek County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a very large underage beer party just before midnight on Friday.

Police received phone calls from neighbors in the 290th Street area when they noticed a large amount of traffic on the dead end road.  Police estimate possibly 100 to 200 people were at the party.

Sheriff's deputies and the Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene.  Multiple charges were filed, including operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and underage possession of alcohol.  There were also charges filed of reckless driving and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle as a result of a rollover accident that injured at least one person while leaving the party.

No further details or names are being released at this time because the entire incident still is under investigation by the Sheriff's Department.
