The Decorah Public Library is celebrating National Library Week this week.
"Today's libraries provide a wide range of opportunities for people with diverse needs and interests," says Decorah Public Library Director Lorraine Borowski. "That means providing their communities with tailor-made collections and services for people of diverse backgrounds, language abilities and technological skills."
Several special programs have been planned as part of the observance. An ongoing foreign policy reading and discussion group will meet at 4:00 p.m. Monday. Drop-in e-reader help sessions will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Wednesday. An Edible Book Contest runs from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Thursday. Storyteller John Dingley will present the program "The Biggest Pack of Lies You Ever Heard" at 1:00 p.m. Friday.
Regularly-scheduled programs will also be offered for young adults and children. Details about all upcoming events are available at www.decorah.lib.ia.us, on the DPL Facebook page, and at the front desk of the library.
Everyone with overdue materials may take advantage of fine amnesty throughout the week. Bring materials to the front desk of the library, let a staff member know that they are overdue and all fines will be removed from the account.
