Local sorority gives over $2,000 to two local causes

The Decorah sorority Preceptor Zeta, Beta Sigma Phi has donated over $2,000 in proceeds from its 2012 Sorority Auction to two local groups.

The sorority has donated $1,425 to the Trails of Winneshiek organization to help pay expenses of building the Trout Run Trail.  Another $715 was donated to First Lutheran Church to help pay for the Decorah Free Clinic and the First Lutheran Food Bank.

$100 of the donations came from matching money given by Thrivent.

Sorority member Sue Broderick said, "Our group of 14 ladies wanted to give back to Decorah and it only seemed right to give to our bike trail that we will all use and to give to our local food pantry."
