The eagle(t) has landed!

The first Decorah Bald eagle of 2012 has hatched!

D12, the 12th eagle to hatch here since 2008, was welcomed by its parents and millions of fans worldwide at 1:16 p.m. CST.  Two more eggs should begin hatching shortly.

Raptor Resource Project officials thanked "the devoted eagle parents, who have remained steadfast in the face of snow, heat, strong winds, and other animals; our broadcast provider UStream, who provides the high-quality live stream 24x7; our fabulous volunteers, who put in long hours to share the wonder of the eagles; and our amazing fans."
