Eight years later, former Wal-Mart building is now half filled

Eight years after the new Wal-Mart supercenter opened on Old Stage Road, the former Wal-Mart building in the Centrum Plaza is still half empty.

However, building owner Scott Farver of Newton says he is optimistic about finding more tenants.  The new VA Outpatient Clinic used 10,000 square feet of the building, meaning that 30,000 square feet of space has now been rented.  That leaves around 48,000 suqare feet of space available.

Farver says he's especially interested in finding businesses that would be compatible with the new VA clinic.

The building space is listed with Viking Realtors of Decorah.
