Members of the City of Decorah's Street Committee say they will meet soon to discuss a complaint by Decorah property owner Steven Olson about delivery trucks for the Sears appliance store that have been driving over the right-of-way in front of his property.
Street Committee member John Franzen says the semis have driven as much as ten feet onto the lawn on Olson's property. "It's not right," says Franzen.
Street Committee chair Gary Rustad says he's also been told that the Sears store has no written agreement with neighboring property owner Ruth Woldum to use her property to get to the loading dock. He says Woldum has said the trucks have damaged her property as well.
The Street Committee is expected to discuss the issue some time in April.
Meanwhile, Olson has posted five more You Tube videos of semis driving across the lawn on his property. Says Olson, "The reason there are five videos is because YouTube will only allow 10 minute segments and the Sear's semi delivery (on March 21st) took 45 minutes, during which time almost 80 cars were blocked." Olson also notes the southwest section of Short Street is the only public road in and out of Infastek and several other other businesses and homes.
