Representatives from First Lutheran Church and the City of Decorah's Street Committee have reached an agreement that both groups believe will help improve visibility at the Broadway and Mill Street intersection.
Neighbors had requested a permanent stop sign be installed at the intersection, citing concerns about speeding and dangerous conditions. But Decorah Police Chief Bill Nixon told committee members there have been no accidents at the intersection.
But while the Street Committee rejected the request for a permanent stop sign, it did agree with church representatives that it would be a good idea to further extend the "no parking" area around the intersection. City crews will paint yellow markings on the curbs on both streets.
