Decorah bald eagle "D1" has returned to Decorah--perhaps to watch as a younger brother or sister is born.
Raptor Resource Project director Bob Anderson says D1 has just returned Decorah after spending the last two months or so on the Turkey River, Little Turkey River, Crane Creek, Volga River and Wapsinican River.
D1 was spotted in Decorah near Luther College Sunday morning.
If she hangs around for another week, she should be here for the first egg hatch of 2012. Anderson says his volunteers will begin their vigil on Friday--with Saturday being the anticipated hatch date of the first chick.
