Longtime Decorah resident Ron Onsager has filed nomination papers for a spot on the Republican Party's Winneshiek County Supervisor District #2 ballot.
Onsager has lived for 34 years in Winneshiek County. He says his background in sales and retail helped him to listen to people and their concerns.
Onsager says he wants to work to attract tourism and new business to Winneshiek County to help grow the local tax base--something he says is very important in the wake of cuts in state and federal funding.
District #2 does not have an incumbent supervisor due to redistricting. Republican Floyd Ashbacher, Democrat Rachel Vagts and Independent John Franzen previously announced their candidacies.
