School calendar set for 2012-13

The Decorah Community School Board set the calendar for the 2012-13 school year on Monday night. Most of the discussion regarding concerns about the starting date had been discussed at their meeting last month, and the motion passed unanimously without debate. Highlights include:

• School start date is Thursday, August 16.
• Winter Break begins December 24
• Classes resume January 7, with first semester ending January 11
• Second semester begins January 15
• Last scheduled day of classes is May 22
• Commencement is May 26
