decorahnews.com is beginning a series of stories about Winneshiek Medical Center

Posted: Mon, Mar 12, 2012 6:14 AM

Our news stories about Winneshiek Medical Center today are the first in what will be a series of stories about the hospital.  They represent six weeks of interviews with hospital board members, hospital officials, doctors, employees, former employees and Gundersen Clinic employees.

While those interviews and our research have unearthed some surprising developments, these news stories are not intended to be "exposes."  Rather, we're attempting only to explain to the public the forces at work in local health care.

It is up to the public to decide what would be the best course for local health care organizations to take.

The only causes that decorahnews.com will champion is the need for the public to be fully informed about what is happening--and for the public to have a voice in any decisions.  Winneshiek Medical Center is a taxpayer supported institution, which means the hospital belongs to every county resident.
