Winneshiek County Republicans and Democrats hear from political candidates, elect delegates at County Conventions

Both  Republicans and Democrats in Winneshiek County held their county conventions over the weekend.

The Winneshiek County Republicans drew around 85 people to their convention Saturday afternoon at Nob Hill.  The convention  elected 18 delegates and three junior delegates to attend both the district convention in Grinnell and the State Republican Party Convention June 16th in Des Moines.

Winneshiek County Republican Party Vice Chairman Paul Hunter says the convention attracted "a good cross section" of people.

Meanwhile, the Winneshiek County Democratic Party convention attracted around 75 people to the Senior Citizens Center inDecorah Saturday morning.  Ten delegates and ten alternate delegates were elected to the DistrictConvention in Waterloo.  Democrats also heard from a variety of state and local political candidates and discussed platform issues.
