The Oneota Community Coop is in the process of its annual board elections. There are three candidates vying for two open positions to fill positions held by Lyle Luzum and Robert Fitton. Luzum has served for two terms starting in April of 2007, and is currently Board Secretary. He previously served as Vice President and President. Fitton was appointed by the Board in November 2009 to fill a resignation, and has been handling the duties of Vice President since 2010.
Running for the board positions are: Carl "Maxxx Madcap" Alstad, Anne Dykstra, and Lora Friest. Information regarding the candidates is provided in the election materials provided to members.
According to Board President Bill Pardee all three of the candidates are board nominated. No other members sought to be on the ballot. The Board Election Committee contacted numerous members regarding their potential interest. Several expressed interest and were interviewed by the Board Election Committee. All those who expressed interest were approved by the Board. One candidate withdrew after reevaluating the time commitment.
Pardee commented regarding the election, "We appreciate these members who are willing to contribute their time to preserve the Coop. It's important to vote to keep the progress we've made and to continue to improve what we can do for our members and customers."
Voting ends at end of business day, April 1, 2012. Election results will be announced at the Annual Meeting on April 12.
