Winneshiek County Landfill operators begin looking to the future

Winneshiek County Landfill Manager Dave Hageman is looking to the future--when the current dumping area at the landfill will fill up.  Hageman says that may happen in 10 or 11 years from now.

But he says "We're positioned farily well."  That's because the county owns around 200 acres of land at the landfill--enough space to construct a new landfill cell.

Hageman says the county's solid waste board has begun discussing future possibilities, which would also include setting up a transfer station to take garbage to a different location.
