February temperatures averaged 9 degrees above normal

Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz says February 2012 was the 11th warmest February in the 117 years for which temperature records have been kept.

The daily average temperature in Decorah in February was 20.1 degrees--9.1 degrees warmer than normal.  That was despite the fact that no record highs were set in February.  Instead, 27 of the 29 days had above average high temperatures.

Decorah received 1.08 inches of precipitation in February--thanks to nearly 8/10ths of an inch of rain on the 28th.  Three inches of the precipitation fell in the form of snow--meaning 84 out of the 118 Februaries had more snow.
