Winneshiek Medical Center to start new quality drive

Nationally, one out of every five patients admitted to a hospital returns to a hospital within 30 days.

That's why Winneshiek Medical Center officials have agreed to participate in the "Partnership for Patients" program.  The goal of the project is to reduce hospital readmissions by 20 percent by the end of 2013.

Winneshiek Medical Center officials say the hospital's quality of care is already high, but they're still interested in any quality of care improvements that can be made.
