Wall Street Journal's "Smart Money" recommends Decorah as a place to retire

Looking for a place to retire?  The Wall Street Journal's "Smart Money" feature says Iowa would be a good choice--specifically, Decorah, Iowa.

The newspaper says "Iowa residents point out that Iowa is so much more than flat plains. There are large hills in the so-called Driftless region, which make it a mountain-biking haven. On top of that, Iowa's thousand or so lakes and ponds are known to offer some of the best fishing in the Midwest. Furthermore, the cost of living is 12% lower than average, the median home price is just $118,100 and at 6.7%, unemployment remains well below the national average."

The article recommends four Iowa communities as great retirement locations--including Decorah.  "This town is proof that thriving arts scenes aren't limited to big cities. Decorah is home to Luther College, which helps it attract local artists as well as cultural events," says the article.
