Decorah native Staff Sergeant Jesse Wandling has been selected as one of 78 veterans of the Iraq War who will be recognized Wednesday night at a White House dinner.

The dinner was organized by the White House to recognize the thousands of soldiers who served in Iraq.  It selected one or two soldiers from each state in the country to attend the dinner.

Wandling is a 2000 Decorah High School graduate.  He is the son of Toni and Thomas Wandling of Decorah.

Wandlinh enlisted in the U.S. Army one week after he graduated from high school.  He is currently serving at Fort Campbell, Kentucky as part of a Chinook helicopter unit.
