Late construction of one segment of Trout Run Trail leads to penalty payment

The City of Decorah has reached an agreement with one of the contractors for the Trout Run Trail. 

Work to install box culverts on Middle Calmar Road took 115 days instead of 70 days.  The contract for the project provided to fines of $500 a day for a late completion.  City officials have agreed to accept $10,000 in penalties instead of $22,500, however.  The $10,000 will be put into the bike trail account to help pay for expenses.
