For more than 50 years Mildred Jacobson of Decorah has been an active volunteer in the Decorah community.

She has volunteered her time in the office of Decorah Methodist Church.  She has been a stalwart worker for the Winneshiek County chapter of the American Cancer Society and its Relay for Life.

On Monday afternoon, Jacobson's contributions to the community were recognized by the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce, which presented her with the 2011 Community Service Award.

Also recognized by the Chamber of Commerce was Chamber Executive Director Nikki Brevig, who received the Chamber Volunteer Award.  Chamber board president Bill Holland said while Brevig was employed by the Chamber, she also devoted countless volunteer hours to Chamber projects.
