Decorah HS student athletes honored for their academic achievements

Decorah High School students Kaitlyn Svestka, Marea Holkesivk, Allison Orvis and Kyle Kregel are in some elite company in the state of Iowa.  The four Vikings were among just 119 students in the entire state who won Academic All-State honors in their sport categories from this fall.

Kaitlyn was one of 57 senior volleyball players in Iowa to be named to the 2011 Academic All-State Volleyball Team.  Kyle was one of 50 Class 3A football players to be named to the 2011 Class 3A Academic All-State Football Team.  Marea and Allison were in even more exclusive company--they were two of just 12 girls swimming team members in Iowa to win Academic All-State honors.

The four Viking athletes were honored Friday night during the Decorah Viking girls basketball game.
