City property taxes would increase 2.3 percent overall under tentative 2012-2013 budget

City of Decorah officials are again discussing holding the property tax levy for city government at $12.54 per $1,000 of assessed valuation.

But because valuations of property in the city are going up 2.3 percent, the amount of property tax collected will increase.  General fund revenues are projected at $3,963,548 for the 2012-2013 fiscal year.

The projected budget does include $29,800 in new funding requests and a $125,000 transfer.

Decorah city council members reviewed the budget in a five-hour work session on Wednesday.
