Aase Haugen residents begin "Lost Penny" project

Posted: Thu, Jan 19, 2012 7:14 PM

The residents of Aase Haugen Homes are beginning to collect pennies.

The idea comes in honor of "Lost Penny Day," February 12th, which honors Abraham Lincoln by collecting the 'lost' or stashed pennies we may have and donating them to a non-profit organization.  The pennies, when gathered from lots of people, can have a significant impact to the community.

The Aase Haugen Homes residents are asking residents to drop off their "lost" pennies by February 12th at Aase Haugen Homes at 4 Ohio Street in Decorah.  A final count will be made on February 13th  and all funds raised will go toward a special community-based project as determined by the residents of Aase Haugen Homes.  Last Christmas, Aase Haugen Home residents bought gifts for a family in need.
