Decorah is 22nd in Blue Zones Project citizen support

Of the more than 900 communities in the state of Iowa, ten will be chosen to receive direct support from the Blue Zones Project Team, including financial help.

One of the factors that will be considered by the Blue Zones program is citizen support.  Communities that have applied for the Blue Zone designated have been encouraged to have their citizens go to the Blue Zones website to make a pledge to participate if their hometown is chosen.

Currently, Decorah is 22nd in percentage of citizen involvement.  St. Ansgar is first and Oelwein second.  Other area communities include Osage fifth, Riceville eighth and Waverly 20th.
