Performances of the New Minowa Players production "The BFG (Big Friendly Giant)" begin on Thursday.
The play is based on the Roald Dahl book of the same title. It tells the adventures of an orphan girl who is whisked away into the land of giants. There are many evil giants, but, fortunately for Sophie, she is in the company of the Big Friendly Giant. Together, Sophie and BFG save the world from the evil giants.
Cast in the leading role is Rob Carbonell. The role of Sophie will be played by Kate Flinchbaugh. Other actors playing multiple roles are Dana Jensen, Gara Lonning, Rick Scheffert, Matt Spencer, and Amanda Zweibohmer. The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) is directed by Sheryl Scheffert, with Jeanine Scheffert serving as assistant director and artistic director.
Performance dates are Thursday, January 19th through Saturday, January 21st at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 22nd at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 27th at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 28th at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, and are on sale at Oneota Community Co-op.
