NICC's proposed budget calls for nearly steady spending

Spending would increase very slightly, but property taxes would decrease under a proposed FY 2013budget for Northeast Iowa Community College.
Spending will go up .0057 percent, while the local property tax rate will decrease from $1.07 to .98 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation.

NICC President Dr. Liang Chee Wee said, "We are very cognizant of containing costs as much as possible while still maintaining educational excellence."

A public hearing on the FY13 budget will be held February 20th in Calmar.

About 58 percent of NICC's operating funds comes from student tuition, 25 percent from state general aid, 11 percent from miscellaneous sources and six percent comes from local taxpayers.
