Annual audit, Metronet, and school start date are covered at School Board meeting

At their Monday night meeting the school board heard a summary of the 2010-11 audit report by representatives from Hacker and Nelson. The audit was deemed to be very "clean" and the board accepted and approved the audit report.

In other business Director of Technology Kurt DeVore reported to the board on recent meetings with the Metronet Board. He reviewed routing; and strand use and capabilities. If all goes well, the Metronet project could be fully operational by October or November. It was noted that Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commision is now part of the group

The board also set a public hearing for 5:00 p.m., February 13, at the beginning of their next board meeting (note the change in time) regarding a waiver for school start date in the fall. This would allow the district to begin school earlier than those established by state code. The likely start date would be August 16. (Most schools in the state ask for this waiver.)

The board will also tour the high school prior to their next meeting. They will hear from Struxture Architects and Larson Construction regarding high school renovation, including updated and adjusted completion times that have been influenced by the plan to hold graduation in the new gym.
