Winter arrives!

Posted: Thu, Jan 12, 2012 6:41 AM

You didn't really think we weren't going to have winter this year, did you?

After setting records earlier in January for high temperatures, the weather in Decorah has returned to more normal for winter.  A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Winneshiek County for Thursday.

The National Weather Service La Crosse Office predicts an additional 1 to 3 inches of snowfall Thursday.  The highest snowfall amounts are predicted along and east of the Mississippi River.

In addition to the snow, blustery northwest winds and much colder temperatures can be expected.  Wind chills will drop into the single digits below zero today into tonight.

Those traveling through this evening should be prepared for snow covered, icy roads, and limited visibilities.
