January of 2012 continues to have record mild temperatures.
The National Weather Service La Crosse office says another record high was set in Decorah on Tuesday. Previously the record high temperature for January 10th was 49 degrees, recorded in 1950. But that record was broken by three degrees on Tuesday as the official high was 52 degrees.
The National Weather Service says the high temperatures were cased by southwesterly winds, a lack of snow cover, and abundant sunshine. The temperatures were 20 to 25 degrees above normal for this time in January.
However, forecasters say you can expect dramatically colder temperatures, blustery northwest winds and snow accumulations starting Wednesday evening, continuing through Thursday night.
