High School asbestos abatement completed

Posted: Fri, Jan 6, 2012 5:08 PM

According to Superintendent Mike Haluska, the recent asbestos removal "went off without a hitch." Decorah Schools had a longer holiday vacation this year due to the asbestos removal that was part of the ongoing high school renovation.

Haluska said they received the air quality reports early enough on Wednesday so that they were able to get the waxing of the hallway/classrooms done that day instead of waiting until Thursday.  That also allowed the custodians to move all the classroom materials back a day sooner.  That way staff won't be pushed as much as they might have been to get rooms restored to the way they were prior to abatement.

"We'll be more than ready to receive students on Monday!" said Haluska.
