decorahnews.com in Afghanistan: 322nd EN works to build guard towers

The soldiers of the Decorah-based 322nd Engineering unit didn't directly provide security while on deployment in Afghanistan--but one of their projects did.

The 322nd built over 125 guard towers while in Afghanistan.  The towers were used to provide security by Afghan police or at U.S. bases.

In some cases the 322nd soldiers also installed the guard towers, building stairs to the towers as well as putting the towers in place.
