Work has already begun thanks to generous donations from the community.  Holly Kanengieter, Winneshiek Medical Center Foundation Coordinator says, "The Obstetrics Department at Winneshiek Medical Center has started the process to update their area – it's very exciting to see community dollars put to work."

The Winneshiek Medical Center Foundation will close the Annual Fund campaign for 2011 on December 31, raising nearly $40,000 this year.  Kanengieter says, "As gifts continue to come in, we hope to exceed last year's totals, which will give a significant boost to projects already in the works."  One such project is the Obstetrics Department update, which, along with comfort enhancements, will include the HUGS and KISSES security system.

"The Foundation has committed $200,000 to the multi-year Obstetrics Department project.  The Foundation Board felt this project was far-reaching and would enhance the health care experience for local families for years to come," says Kanengieter.

Although the Annual Fund campaign for 2011 is complete, Kanengieter says the Foundation will remain hard at work.  "We look forward to re-connecting with the community.  Board members live and work here, and have personal interest in the quality of local health care.  They are eager to reach out to their friends and neighbors to find ways the Foundation and community can work together," says Kanengieter.
