Afghan notebook: One part of Army life hasn't changed

The U.S. Army now uses technologies that weren't even dreamed about 10 or 20 years ago.  But there's one part of Army life that hasn't changed much.

Army veterans will be happy to know that it's still tru that often you "Hurry up and wait."

This is especially true when you're moving from one location to another.  Military airplane flights can't publish their times, of course, so it's typical for soldiers to wait around while other people make the arrangements.

It's exciting to take a ride on a Chinook helicopter or a C-130 transport.  Just don't expect to do it quickly.

Some things change, but traveling with the Army still is done on the Army's own terms.
