U.S. Savings Bonds will no longer be sold at local banks after December 31st

Big changes are in store for U.S. Savings Bonds as of January 1st.  Consumers will no longer be able to buy paper savings bonds at financial institutions.  The U.S. Department of the Treasury will only sell electronic savings bonds through their website at www.treasurydirect.gov.

However, if you still have paper savings bonds, they can still be redeemed at financial institutions or www.treasurydirect.com.
