Area Families Receive Christmas Gifts from WMC Staff

Winneshiek Medical Center staff have purchased 116 gifts for families in need of a little cheer this Christmas season.    For the eighteenth year in a row, Winneshiek Medical Center has worked in conjunction with Northeast Iowa Community Action on this community project.  Along with the gifts from staff, Dr. Randy Olson of Decorah has provided toothbrushes to each family member, and an anonymous donor gave $500 to provide non-perishable food items to each of the five families.

Denise Duffy, the nurse manager of the Winneshiek Medical Center Obstetrics Department, and coordinator of the giving wreath project says, "The Giving Wreath project is so much fun – the wrapping is festive and people are so happy to help.  Our staff puts a great deal of care into the gifts."  She adds, "I think I was meant to do this. My birthday is in December and it just seems like I was meant to help coordinate this project. It's a great time of year."
