The clock on the Winneshiek County Courthouse is running again, thanks to repairs made by Decorah residents Mark Burgdorf and Jared Dansdill.
But county supervisors were told Monday that repairs should be made soon in order to preserve the clock and the clock tower.
Assistant County Auditor Tony Clarke told supervisors there are bricks in the clock tower that should be tuckpointed; mastic adhesive should be applying to keep the glass clock faces from cracking further; and pigeon droppings should be removed in order to prevent them from causing damage.
Supervisor Bill Ibanez agreed that spending a little money now would be sense, saying "there's some obvious stuff that needs to be done--probably fairly soon."
County supervisors have asked to be presented with a proposal on what work would be done and what the approximate cost would be.
