Is Decorah bald eagle "D1" heading back home?

The summer vacation for Decorah bald eagle "D1" might be coming to an end.  The eagle spent more than a month in northern Wisconsin and Minnesota.

But lately "D1" has been heading south.  As a matter of fact, the bald eagle spent time along the Black River just north of La Crosse--and now seems to be heading back to Decorah.

She is now on the Mississippi River about 40 miles away from Decorah.  Raptor Resource Project director Bob Anderson says he spotted D1 this week on a wooded island in the middle of the Mississippi River just a tad upstream from Dresbach, Minnesota, hanging out with two adult eagles.

Says Anderson, "There are loads of migrant eagles from all over northern Minnesota and Wisconsin and Canada now taking up winter residence on the Mississippi River.  Will our Decorah eagle remain on the big river?  Will she return to the Decorah area?   This is so very interesting!"
