The North Winneshiek School District is doing fairly well.
The North Winn School Board on Monday approved a FY2011 financial audit that showed the district's general fund balance increased by $124,347 during 2010-2011. The district's solvency ratio for FY11 is 2.5 percent, which is categorized as an acceptable amount by the Iowa Association of School Boards. The general fund spending authority balance currently is $659,925.
The board approved a request to the School Budget Review Committee for additional allowable growth for increased enrollment and unfunded enrollment changes for the current year. The allowable growth request is for $95,305.
Meanwhile, the North Winneshiek advisory committee has submitted an updated five-year long range plan that calls for North Winneshiek to remain a preschool through 8th grade school district through the 2017 school year and beyond.
