Three weeks before the Iowa Caucuses, Winneshiek County begins to get visits from presidential candidates

This year's Republican presidential race in Iowa has been largely contested in the heavily Republican western part of the state.

But Winneshiek County is about to get some attention as the campaigning heads into the final three weeks.

Republican presidential candidates Rick Perry and Michelle Bachmann are visiting Decorah soon--Perry on Sunday and Bachmann on Monday.  So far, only Republican Rick Santorum has made a campaign stop in Decorah--although frontrunner Newt Gingrich visited Decorah for his wife's college reunion this summer.

Iowa's Republican Party caucuses will be held on Tuesday, January 3rd.  Winneshiek County Republicans will gather Tuesday, December 20th, to make their plans for the caucuses.
